Light pulses/Laser target the melanin in the skin surface. Melanin is produced in the stratum basale and from there it is transferred to the rest layers of the epidermis, thus melanin is present in all 5 layers of the epidermis. As a result, the light pulses target melanin present in all 5 layers. The melanin absorbs the light and produces heat, which destroys the melanin, thus removing the discoloration. read more...
